Kinetic fluctuation in the inhomogeneous plasma

چکیده

Using the Langevin approach and the multiscale technique, a kinetic theory of the time and space nonlocal fluctuations in the collisional plasma is constructed. In local equilibrium a generalized version of the CallenWelton theorem is derived. It is shown that not only the dissipation but also the time and space derivatives of the dispersion determine the amplitude and the width of the spectrum lines of the electrostatic field fluctuations, as well as the form factor. There appear significant differences with respect to the non-uniform plasma. In the kinetic regime the form factor is more sensible to space gradient than the spectral function of the electrostatic field fluctuations. As a result of the inhomogeneity, these proprieties became asymmetric with respect to the inversion of the frequency sign. The differences in amplitude of peaks could become a new tool to diagnose slow time and space variations in the plasma. PACS: 52.25.Dg; 52.25.Gj; 05.10.Gg; 05.40.-a

The preventive role of Snell’s law in mode conversion from Z- to whistler-mode waves in an inhomogeneous magnetoplasma with a low density

Electromagnetic waves with different modes, such as Z-, whistler-, LO- and RX- modes are found in different regions of the Earth magnetosphere and the magnetosphere of other planets. Since whistler-mode waves influence the behavior of the magnetosphere, and they are used as experimental tools to investigate the upper atmosphere, they are important. On the other hand, the mode conversion process...

3/2omega0 radiation from the laser-driven two-plasmon decay instability in an inhomogeneous plasma.

We present the results of the first reduced model simulations of the nonlinear development of the two-plasmon decay instability in an inhomogeneous plasma, including properties of the 3/2 harmonic emission. A sharp increase in radiation and Langmuir turbulence fluctuation levels occurs above a threshold laser intensity that depends on initial fluctuation levels. We study the competition between...

A Hilbert-Huang transform approach to space plasma turbulence at kinetic scales

Heliospheric space plasmas are highly turbulent media and display multiscale fluctuations over a wide range of scales from the magnetohydrodynamic domain down to the kinetic one. The study of turbulence features is traditionally based on spectral and canonical structure function analysis. Here, we present an novel approach to the analysis of the multiscale nature of plasma turbulent fluctuation...

Dust-lower-hybrid drift instabilities with dust charge fluctuations in an inhomogeneous dusty magnetoplasma.

Effects of a uniform magnetic field, the plasma inhomogeneity, and dust charge fluctuations on low-frequency dust-lower-hybrid drift waves have been investigated. Charging currents of electrons and ions to a spherical dust grain in a nonuniform magnetized dusty plasma have been calculated to study the charge fluctuation induced damping or growth of low-frequency drift waves. It is found that fo...

Kinetic signatures and intermittent turbulence in the solar wind plasma.

A connection between kinetic processes and intermittent turbulence is observed in the solar wind plasma using measurements from the Wind spacecraft at 1 A.U. In particular, kinetic effects such as temperature anisotropy and plasma heating are concentrated near coherent structures, such as current sheets, which are nonuniformly distributed in space. Furthermore, these coherent structures are pre...
